Tips For Filling In Internship Application Forms

Saturday, December 12th, 2009

In the process of filling in your internship application forms, there are some things that you should and should not do. Remember that your application form is like your golden ticket to catch the attention of your employer. It should stand out from the rest of the forms that other competing intern wannabe’s have passed.

To get that edge over your competition, here are some tips for filling in internship application forms.

Filling In Written Forms

It is advised that you photocopy the application form even before you start writing on it. In this way, you can have some practice in filling in the form, just to make sure that the information you will write down would fit the spaces given. Also, in most cases, black ink is the standard that you should use when filling a form. Unless they specify a different color, black is the safe way to go.

Filling In Online Forms

If you are completing and online application form, most of the time, you will be required to register and give your information before you even get to complete the main application form. If this is the case, carefully record information you put in your registration details. In this way, you can ensure that you will have consistent information in both your registration and application details.

Additionally, always double-check your application before you submit it. It would be best if you can even print it out. Doing so, can help give you reminders and cues of whatever answers you put in the form if ever they ask you again during the interview proper.

If you base what you do on inaccurate information, you might be unpleasantly surprised by the consequences. Make sure you get the whole Internship story from informed sources.

A General Guide To The Different Sections

Most of the time, the employment and education sections of your form are self-explanatory. They should also be answered with complete honesty, since these are information that is easy to confirm.

Qualification standards vary in different countries. If you are an overseas applicant, you do not have to convert your qualifications into the format of the country you are applying in, since a lot of employers already use a qualification conversion table to do the task.

There are some forms that would want you to indicate all of the modules you have studied and even the grades you’ve obtained. While there are some would simply ask you to summarize them.

The employment section of the form would usually require you to provide information about the different jobs you have had. A short and straight to the point job description would do, as you should take note of space or word limitations. Also remember to add in voluntary or part-time work if you have had any.

The last section of the form is usually the references. You should deliberate carefully on whom are the people you should include in this list. First off, they should be someone that you are sure would likely give you a positive recommendation. Second, do not forget to ask for their permission to include them on your list, and make sure that they agree, before you do so.

In completing a form, make sure that you keep it short and simple. Most employers hate extremely long forms that have useless data such as awards gained from kindergarten or even prep school. Just keep in mind to only put the relevant data and what the form requires.

Preparing the Home for an Adoptive Child

Friday, December 11th, 2009

If you have even a passing interest in the topic of Adoption, then you should take a look at the following information. This enlightening article presents some of the latest news on the subject of Adoption.

Bringing a new child into any home is a big concern. Whether the child is born to the individuals in the home or the child is adopted, a new child requires a transition period and also compels preparations. Many people who adopt children are experiencing parenting for the very first time. Introducing an adoptive child to their home means huge changes for both the adoptive child and adoptive parents alike. In preparing the home for an adoptive child, there are many details to consider. Some of these details are extremely important and necessary.

When preparing for an adoptive child, the adoptive parents will need to update any family insurance policies they carry. Health insurance policies will have to be changed to include the adoptive child. Changes may want to be made to beneficiary designations on life insurance policies. These things are important when adopting a child. When preparing the home for an adoptive child, the adoptive parents must make sure to obtain a copy of the adoptive child’s original birth certificate. This document will surely be needed in the future. Once an adoption is finalized, documents such as the child’s original birth certificate may be sealed and neither the child nor the adoptive parents will be able to access it.

It is also important to get a new social security number and birth certificate when preparing for an adoptive child. These new documents will recognize the child’s new surname and family situation. This will be essential when filing a tax return. Without a social security number, the adoptive child will not be claimed as a dependent for tax purposes.

When preparing the home for an adoptive child, it is helpful to gain as much knowledge as possible about the child’s normal habits and personality. In order to make the transition easier for the adoptive child, it would help to know what their favorite foods are, their favorite past-times and games and also, the best way the adoptive parents can comfort and console their adoptive child. When preparing the home for an adoptive child, never forget the adoptive child has a past. It is important to encourage the child to bring things from their previous home or homes in the case of foster children. It will help to have familiar items around them when an adoptive child is trying to adjust to their new surroundings.

Hopefully the information presented so far has been applicable. You might also want to consider the following:

It’s always a good idea to make the home child-friendly when preparing for an adoptive child. It is important to remove any objects that might be a potential danger to the child. It is essential to make the adoptive child’s room inviting and friendly. It would help to make sure the adoptive child realizes their room belongs to them. It’s their space and only theirs.

When preparing the home for an adoptive child, the adoptive parents must take into consideration the feelings of other children in their home. Bringing a new child home changes the normal routine and everyone must be involved in the change. If there are other children involved, it would be beneficial to include them in visits with the adoptive child prior to the actual move. It is essential to ensure other children that adopting a child will not change their parent’s feelings for them or the way they are treated within the home.

There are many tiny details to work through when preparing the home for an adoptive child. When there is a family involved, it is imperative to make sure everyone is included in the planning and preparation for the new addition to the home.

Now you can be a confident expert on Adoption. OK, maybe not an expert. But you should have something to bring to the table next time you join a discussion on Adoption.

How can credit card affect your debt management strategies

Wednesday, December 9th, 2009

If you’re seriously interested in knowing about Debt Management, you need to think beyond the basics. This informative article takes a closer look at things you need to know about Debt Management.

Many people would agree that before the invention of credit cards has made debt management a harder and more complicated task. Why? Because of credit card’s convenience to use, many people lose their self-control and engage in seemingly endless shopping galore without thinking about the consequences of their acts.

The “magic” card

When it comes to finances, technology?through efficient banking system and services?has given people better alternatives and options how to manage their finances. Among the so many financial management schemes that emerged, one alternative stands out among the rest?the “magic” card more popularly called the credit card.

Credit card, especially to working people and those who live very busy lives, has become an ultimate financial “savior.” More than just being a status symbol or an add-on to expensive purses and wallets, credit card has revolutionized the way people spend their money. But, more than the glamour and the convenience credit card brings, there is much more to this card than most people could ever imagine.

Before indulging much into the never-ending list of the advantages and disadvantages of having a credit card, it is very important for people to first have a brief realization of what credit card really is in order for them to maximize its potentials.

Understanding the credit card

Credit card is a card that allows a person to make purchases up to the limit set by the card issuer. One must then pay off the balance in installments with interest payments. Usually, credit card payment per month ranges from the minimum amount set by the bank to entire outstanding balance. And since it is a form of business, the longer the credit card holder wait to pay off his or her entire amount, the more interest pile up.

If you base what you do on inaccurate information, you might be unpleasantly surprised by the consequences. Make sure you get the whole Debt Management story from informed sources.

Since having a credit card is a responsibility, only those people who are of legal age and have the capability to pay off the amount they are going to spend through their credit card, is allowed to have one.

It is important to be familiar with the different types of credit cards before you begin to build up credit card balances and to avoid having a nightmare of debt. Since credit cards are indispensable to most consumers, it is a must that they understand the types of card that include charge cards, bankcards, retail cards, gold cards and secured cards. All of these types come in one of two interest rate options?the fixed and variable. Some of the things you should consider before choosing a credit card include:

- How will you spend with the credit card monthly,

- If you plan to carry a balance at the end of the month,

- How much are you willing to pay in annual fees,

- If you have a strong credit history and is does your credit in need of rehabilitation.

Once you have an idea of what you are looking for, you can choose the right credit card for you by researching the information you need that will fit your basic needs. You may also review the credit cards you’ve research and compare them.

Having a credit card is synonymous to invincibility. And this concept also triggers a person’s thirst for material things and may lead into the temptation of buying something they don’t really need. When it comes to debt management, credit cards can also be used as a strategy in avoiding problems by using it as a virtual “limiting” tool.

That’s the latest from the Debt Management authorities. Once you’re familiar with these ideas, you’ll be ready to move to the next level.

But, you don’t know where to start. Getting into a graphic design firm can be difficult or easy, depending on your luck and the resources available to you.

The best way to get your foot in the door at a graphic design firm is through an internship program. Alternatively, you may be able to get involved in a professional association based on your credentials and references from your college or university academic advisor, department head, or instructors. Contacts in these professional associations can easily help you get your foot in the door of a graphic design firm.

Once you have your foot in the door, you have to impress the decision making or hiring managers within the graphic design firm. This requires showcasing your best work. If you are doing an internship at a graphic design firm, do your best work while you are there, and you might get a job offer. Making a Difference with Non-Profit Venture Capital

Tuesday, December 1st, 2009

Most of us don’t really care much about making a difference. Most of us didn’t even care about pollution and global warming until gas prices soared, forcing people to swap their SUVs to hybrid vehicles. Money makes the world go round they say, and even simple dreams get tainted by commercialism.

Artists don’t just play music but also convince their fans to buy overpriced merchandise just because it has the name of their idol printed on it. Fortunately it has become more and more obvious to the people that there are others who barely manage to get by. Non-profit organizations also seek venture capital to help others.

Most of these are non-profit organizations who aim to help and make a difference in their community. Nowadays fraudulent schemes abound. This is one of the reasons why venture capitalists don’t invest their money in these type organizations, besides the fact that they won’t earn anything in return.

Non profit organizations for the benefit of other people

Non profit organizations do exist to help other start up businesses. A non profit organization called Alliance of Angels provides funds for new businesses. It an organization composed of Angel investors. There are also other non profit organizations that exist like them. Unfortunately, like Alliance of Angels, screening can be strict and very competitive.

They also create non profit businesses that are involved in a movement called a social enterprise. These social enterprises, such as Goodwill Industries and Salvation Army, provide job opportunities for disadvantaged individuals. This includes individuals with mental and physical disabilities, don’t have any work experience and lack education. Other non profit businesses also hire low income high school students and drug abusers.

Once you begin to move beyond basic background information, you begin to realize that there’s more to Venture Capital than you may have first thought.

The latest development today is that non profit businesses don’t just provide job opportunities. Organization such as Food from the Hood, Pueblo Nuevo Development and Chrysalis are an example of this. They create programs that train and develop a disadvantaged individual’s skill to be able to find a regular job with a living wage. These businesses are able to sustain themselves, which in turn enable them expand and help more people.

Others provide capital for businesses that are focused on making a difference. The Social Venture Capital Organization provides seed capital and grants to businesses that have ideas valuable to their community.

They are looking for businesses that are geared towards addressing key social concerns such as poverty, hunger, malnutrition, hate crimes and crime prevention. They provide counseling and management support for non profit businesses to be able to turn their ideas to reality.

In this money driven world it is a relief that organizations like these exist that is willing to make a difference in their community. Organizations like these encourage non profit businesses to start and grow.

There are also firms that encourage profit oriented businesses that bring make an impact in their community. The downside is they may encourage economic development in their community but not to the benefit of the people who live in it that also need help.

If you have non profit business seeking venture capital funds you can approach this type of organization. Although they may not be as many as traditional private equity firms they still do exist. This time they are willing to invest in a company not out of pure gain.

Is there really any information about Venture Capital that is nonessential? We all see things from different angles, so something relatively insignificant to one may be crucial to another.
